The Jack Russell Terrier Research Foundation
A Survey of Genetic Diseases Found in Jack Russell Terriers
The survey questionnaire has been developed based on genetic diseases that have specifically been seen in Jack Russell Terriers. Historically, similar surveys have been successfully used by other canine breed clubs to learn about genetic diseases in their breeds. Both the JRT Research Foundation and the JRTCA strongly support this survey which is directed at ALL breeders of Jack Russell Terriers.
The survey is strictly confidential. Data from this survey will be reported only in summary form, so it is not necessary to identify yourself or your terriers. It is hoped that these data will be useful for future research projects as background information and as a tool to determine the most prevalent genetic diseases in the JRT so our available research funds can be directed most effectively. However, as we pursue research projects looking for DNA markers, pedigree information for individual terriers and families of terriers are becoming an integral part of this research. Therefore, it is hoped that survey respondents will provide identification and will be willing to provide additional information should any individual research project need more information. Even then, all information provided will remain confidential and will be submitted for research purposes only.
A survey like this is only as accurate as the care taken by individuals responding with data. Please answer the survey questions as accurately as you can. Your support and inputs are greatly appreciated.
